I use Blockbusters online movie rental service and have been for the past 2 or so years.
I like the fact that i can take a movie back into the store and do an exchange.

So does this mean that Netflix will be doubling its prices soon? It is too bad I rather prefer Blockbuster. Though I must confess I rarely buy movies. There are so many good ones I get through Encore, Showtime, HBO, TCM and MGM plus the free content through On Demand that I have little need to rent movies. Gaps are filled with a backlog of $5 DVD's and $10 Blu Ray's from blockbuster.
Mainly I have been hesitant on Netflix is the last time I checked they did not have many classic titles, 1940's and before. Nor what their streaming movie selection is.

When is this "last time"? You'll be pleased to know that Netflix Instant Streaming has recently added a huge chunk of the Criterion Collection to its list of movies offered for instant viewing.
Couldn't have said it better. I still use my local mom and pop video store. I haven't used BB for god knows how long. No love loss here for them. Feel bad for the people who are going to loose their jobs but no love loss for the company it self.
Completely agree. And you last point can be used to describe pretty much any type of shop these days
There's still quite a lot of people who go to Blockbuster(a store few months old) in my neighbourhood. Probably because Netflix isn't in Canada yet.
This sucks because Netflix often doesn't carry seasons of TV shows that Blockbuster does carry. F.e., I'm watching Dallas. So I want to watch season 9 and lo and behold Netflix doesn't have it, but Blockbuster.com does. Not the only case of that either. Now with even LESS competition, why should Netflix fill in the gaps?
The only store in my area closed up several months ago, a short time after Hollywood video closed up. Before that, a small private store closed up a few years ago. I think they only way around here to buy DVDs is at BestBuy or online now.
