iPad Blocked Mail is coming through..

I blocked a contact on iOS 13 with a new option in the Mail app. Yet, messages are still coming through (which I set to come through to Trash via iCloud.com mailbox rules). I can see the little blocked contact icon.

My question is... WHY is contact from someone who is blocked still making its way onto my device? This is nonsensical to me.

thanks, I just did. Hope Apple fixes this, normally a blocked contact is blocked completely. I’d have expected the same from iPad OS
