What does a person hear/see when you block them? iPhone to iPhone.

I’ve gotten mixed messages as far as the “delivered” message goes. From my understanding and from testing it, I thought messages would send as sms vs mms. Could this vary from phone to phone?

iMessage just says delivered. Obviously if you’re blocked the other person doesn’t receive it but it still says delivered.

I’ve tested it with other iPhone users and I never get the “delivered” message under the message. It stays blue for a second and eventually sends as green.

Haha 🤣

That would require a perfect world though, because in an imperfect world, some people aren’t nice to others... like this one.

No, not perfect, just respectful of someone else's choices and boundaries.

Anyway, to my mind, stalkerish behaviour is never to be applauded or enabled, irrespective of whether we live in an ideal world, an imperfect world, or a world that lies somewhere in between.

That’s fine, and I agree with you. People should respect boundaries and stalking is bad. I literally agree.

But that’s not what this post is about. It’s about what happens if you are blocked and you send a message to someone. What do you see.

The OP may have been blocked by someone and they’re curious if they have been, or they may have been wondering about it and just gotten curious. We, like the OP just don’t know.

While it is possible to be "just curious" about what happens if you are blocked, I note the fact that the OP has just joined the forum, and has started a thread (these are his - and I would be willing to wager that "he" is a "he" - first two posts ever on this forum) to ask what happens if you are blocked.

That suggests that the OP may be a little more than "just curious", and indicates to me that the OP's interest may be a little more motivated than something other by idle, or mere, curiosity.

For some strange reason I just read this in the podcast voice of Octava Spencer in Truth Be Told. Lol thank you for making me laugh.

Indeed.

However, while the OP is (or may be) "just curious" to find out what someone experiences if they are - or have been - blocked, it is an equally curious subject matter to raise on one's very first post, and one's first thread, in a supposedly tech forum.

I agree entirely...but what was the motive and did you lead the charge?

No, not a perfect world, just a world where respect is shown to the preferences of the person who does not wish - or would prefer not - to be contacted.
Perfect world would be to discuss like adults why you feel you may need to block them. And then if they person responds poorly, tell them you are blocking them and do it. They can't contact you anymore then unless they know where you are physically, so what's the big deal of letting them know what is going on instead of ghosting like a p$@#$?!?!

If you suspect that you may have been blocked, why not respect that person's right to block you, instead of persisting with attempts to make contact with them?
But on the same token, the blocker should have the same respect for the blockee and tell them they are blocking them and then do it. Instead of having them going on a forum just to figure out what is going on.

Not if the person being blocked is a stalker, has already shown poor respect for boundaries, or is someone the blocker prefers not to have to communicate with any longer.

For, as we know, some people don't take rejection all that well.

To my mind, the need for safety, privacy and autonomy trump the requirement of showing manners in such a situation.

Interesting that the OP (with all of two posts on the forum, both on this topic, and both in this very ahead) has yet to return and report back on what has happened.

More likely he is still blocked.

And this sounds less a case of true love, than true obsession, and a reluctance, or refusal, to accept boundaries set by others.
He suspected he was blocked and you are turning it into a Netflix series. You can’t be sure and neither can I. Sometimes it can be confusing for some users with the blue/green “send as sms” turned on or off. I’d rather not assume the worst but that’s me.

No, not Netflix, (which I don't have), and granted, I am not sure, but I do note the sheer oddity of someone starting an account on the forum, and proceeding to make their first post (and their second post - their only posts to date) to ask about blocking and being blocked.

The further fact that the OP has not returned to this thread (or anywhere else in the forum) is also something worth remarking on.

Exactly. Sick of everyone judging OP. Like I said before, regardless of what is happening, it's no too effing hard to just send a message I AM BLOCKING YOU and then blocking. Would be even better to give some reason but at least tell the person you are blocking them.

Yes. Blocking should be done with manners. I know that I always say it to the rude people I meet online before blocking them. (Albeit not iMessage/sms etc as it wouldn’t get that far if rude.) the act itself is not nice but I guess one could argue that it in itself should be done with manners
