What do you mean? Maybe I'm missing something but as I host my blogger account on my own server maybe that's something that doesn't apply to me?eclipse said:

Hey, I'm fairly new to all of this... if I host my own eclipse site on my own G4, and it goes into sleep mode... what happens when people want to browse the site? Do they 'wake' the computer up?

Umm I think when he said "his own server" he just means a 3rd party host like dreamhost or rackspace.
Yeah...a hosted server. At pair networks actually. They leave their servers on all the time...dornoforpyros said:

What I am trying to say (in my own clumsy way) is that I don't even really want my blog pages dated.
I don't want them archived by time... by chronology.
I want them to stay where I put them, with a constant home page, and an index to my pages that stay where I put them. I want it structured, but not by time... by subject.
Blogger is great if you just want a time-based thought of the day... but if you want to stick up a more 'normal' website, not time archived, what do you recommend? What free hosts of what sort of free software allow this sort of thing?

oh, just buy a used peecee, boot into to*nix, fire up apache, use no-ip dynamic dns services, forward port 80 (or another port, but 80 is reccomended), put up a firewall, hook the machine up to a ups, and boom! your own server with 20-100GB storage and basically unlimited bandwidth, and 100% uptime. this will come to a total of about 50 bucks
