Hi all,

I'm considering getting an iPad and would use it for the occasional trip/etc.

As such, I sometimes like to make blog posts (to Wordpress) and I usually include an image/photo with the post.

On my MBP, the workflow goes like this: Grab the image of the gadget/whatever and save it. Crop it. Resize to a max dimension. Then upload it using the Wordpress admin UI.

How would this workflow go with an iPad? Since you cannot easily save images, I imagine the first place I'd get stuck is saving the image. Then, is it possible to edit the image (simple - just the crop and resize)? How would you upload it using the Wordpress UI if you can't browse the filesystem?

Any comments from anyone who is doing some similar workflow or knows of concrete answers would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

If you're talking about saving images off the web, that's easy--you just hold your finger on the image and an option to save it pops up. They get saved to your Saved Images folder.

There are apps, some of them free, that allow you to crop or resize images. (I have Crop for Free for the iPhone installed--it's just for quickie cropping, so I don't mind that the app doesn't look crisp on the iPad screen. I haven't bothered to see what iPad-specific apps have xome out.)

The Wordpress app is decent for making posts, but it handles images terribly (it puts them at the top of the post whether you want them there or not). What I do to get around that is upload my photos to Photobucket via their free app, and then I code the URL of the image into the post wherever I want it (with the IMG HTML tag). For this I prefer Photobucket to Flickr because Photobucket gives you the direct image URL in a way that's really easy to grab via copying. I have tried getting the URL ti an i age via the Flickr app or website.

Oh, OK, that sounds easy enough! Yeah, I'm talking about images already existing on the web.

That's a bummer that the WP app doesn't have the "insert image here" (at the cursor) like you do in the web UI. But, it's probably something I could easily work around.

Thanks for the help! Now, just to decide if I want the 32GB model or the 32GB+3G...

You can also add pictures to the iPad through the Camera Connection Kit - works great - and even add videos through that same kit and edit the movies in ReelDirector (Universal - iPad updated!) - and create some simple home videos :) - content creation is completely opened on the iPad all we need are some good apps (still waiting on a Garageband type app)

You can try the app BlogPress. I haven't used it personally but friendsnof mine have said it's much better than Wordpress and you also have more options when it comes to pictures. Unfortunately it's not free, $2.99 but might be worth it.
