Articles from Bloomberg over the past couple weeks. Why does Bloomberg have it in for Apple?

Apple Seen Losing Innovation Magic by 71% in Global Poll
This bases on a survey of 906 investors, analysts and traders who are Bloomberg subscribers around the world.

Hon Hai Profit Misses Estimates on Slowing Apple Orders
Headline not based on anything Foxconn said, but based on comments from Wall Street Analysts making the assumption it's lower demand for Apple products.

iWatch to Save Apple?
Yes because Apple is doomed and clearly needs saving. They'll be bankrupt soon if they don't release a new gadget to save them.

Apple’s $145 Billion in Cash Fails to Win AAA Debt Rating

Harvard Liquidates Apple Stake After iPhone Sales Lose Steam
Harvard's endowment is $30.7 billion. They sold $304,000 of Apple stock and that warrants a Bloomberg headline.

Nokia Invests in High-Resolution Cameras to Woo Apple Buyers
Because Nokia would only be interested in wooing Apple customers. They could care less about Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, etc. customers.

Falling iPad Mini Demand to Push Pegatron Electronics Sales Down
Phillip Elmer Dewitt took Bloomberg to task for this article because they basically chopped up the Pegatron CEO's comments to fit their narrative of Apple in decline. And the CEO released a statement to Fortune basically saying the Bloomberg story was false.

I'm sure I could find even more negative headlines from Bloomberg. And I wasn't just cherry picking. The positive headlines were few and far between.

Maybe because they want views to bring in money? Apple hasn't done anything great recently so the obvious thing to do is criticize them. Going through a few of them briefly, they are mainly true.

Why do you have an issue with companies passing Apple's features as they sit around twiddling their thumbs?

Yeah, the tech press seems to have turned on Apple. They had no problem lauding Apple since the iPod to gain eyeballs. Still not as bad as the late 90s when all you read was how Apple was about to die.

And I thought I was bored.
I pay little attention to the so-called favoritism myself, from Bloomberg and all others.

Let's not forget these gems:

http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-5-sales-opening-weekend-2012-9
http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-s4-sales-2013-5?op=1

5 million iphone sales in 3 days "disappointing". 10 million GS4 sales in a month "strong start". :D

Seems the media has a lust for anything anti-Apple these days.

The iphone sales were disappointing, even Apple has to feel that it was. This is due to their own expectations, if you take into consideration the sale of iphone 4 and 4S the sales of 5 are disappointing.

When the iphone 4S came out insurance companies saw a significant rise of "stolen phones", this was not a problem for the release of iphone 5. Atleast it wasn't in Norway.

GS3 didn't have the market position that iphone 4S had, you can consider Samsung to be in the position that Apples was when they released iphone 3.

The 2nd link is about the s4, not the 3.

Just curious what expectations Apple had for iPhone 5. I don't remember them releasing sales estimates. Only clowns like Gene Muster who made 5 million in 3 days seem disappointing.

Unless you can definitively state what Apple's expectations were (which Apple never actually did), there is no way you can state that they were a "disappointment"

This is what Bloomberg does and does well, launches spurious stories and claims close to business or product launches. From memory they've done the same with Microsoft, BHP mergers, and various Glencore deals so Apple isn't really special from that respect.

They love the bash, it's what keeps people reading and the adrevs up

Apple-bashing is currently a popular activity for the business and tech media/bloggers. They get tons of hits by churning Apple-hating news, drawing tons and tons of rabid haters. And in turn, the websites generate ad revenue by those hits.

It comes with the territory that Apple is the #1 company by valuation. Sometimes I wish that Google would hurry up and take over as the #1 company by valuation. Once the honeymoon ends, the news media and mass consumers will turn against Google Domination. Being #1 is a lonely place.

You are aware that by posting all these links, you're doing exactly what these news sites want you to, right?

Some might have a point to make, but I'm sure at least half of those links are nothing more than click bait opinion pieces made to drive up hits to their website. You see it all the time. "BIG BELOVED COMPANY DOES HORRIBLE THING ALSO EATS KIDS". With a title like that, how could any fan of BIG BELOVED COMPANY resist clicking it, seething over it, then posting it to their favorite website so all the other BIG BELOVED COMPANY fans can seethe over it.

Keep in mind I didn't actually click most of them. Just copied the link and headline. I created hyperlinks just so no one could claim I made anything up.

And for comic relief, check out this iPad-centric form of media bias. It's in reverse chronological order so start at the bottom of the page and go up:

haha, this guys needs this on his grave stone..

“If this is the “greatest project” Jobs has ever worked on, that doesn’t say much for the iPhone, iMac, Pixar Studios, and all of his other revolutionary endeavors. Let’s face it: the Apple iPad is a great big failure. I am disappointed. You are disappointed. We all are disappointed.”
