Not trying to create flame wars, but a lot of people are missing the obvious: posting about and/or showing photos demonstrating or refuting blooming are meaningless without also stating the iPad brightness level and the ambient light conditions (completely dark room, sun-lit room, lamp-lit room at night, etc).
* Have not seen a post (yet) about someone claiming there is zero blooming when they are outside on a sunny day. *
I don't have a dog in this hunt. I have a 2020 Air. I've owned Samsung Super Amoled phones and tablets and do miss the blacks. I considered and skipped buying one of last years' mini-Led TVs on account of having way too few dimming zones. However, I am following all these discussions because I will consider a possible future iPad Air Oled or iPad Pro 11 mini-Oled.
Full disclosure, I'm happy with my Air 2020. I'm rocking a mid-range Samsung KU6300, conventional backlit LCD, from 2016. I am slightly susceptible to Oled PWM from ownership of Nexus, OnePlus and Samsung flagships and I've skipped owning an Oled TV so far for the usual reasons people post about.
Carry on debating. Keep it friendly and no one should take someone else's observations personally.
