Here is a small area of where I live, Bloomsburg Pennsylvania. A good 25% of the town is under water right now. Some houses even got moved off of their foundations.

Wow!

I didn't realize it flooded that much upstate!

Jeez, that's really awful!

Irene may not have been the biggest storm ever, but it did a hell of a lot of damage in upper NY state, NJ, Penn, and and especially VT.

Hope you and your family or OK.

Yeah, we live right on the Susquehanna river. It flooded like this in 2006 as well. Maybe now they'll stop being cheap and build some kind of levy.

This flood crested at 32.7 feet. Even the National Guard is here.

I am from the Wilkes-Barre area... I live outside of Dallas though... We had a "100 year" flood back in 1972 (I was 2)... this one was bigger and crested at 42.66'. We had a ton of damage from hurricane Irene, but compared to the folks in the flood plane, it was nothing.

Here is a picture of a bridge in Wilkes-Barre... 1972 and this past Friday.

My sister and her husband who live in Bloomsburg just got the call from their landlord today that their house is now condemned because the flood caused it to mold inside. It was a brand new house too that they were renting.

They moved all of their stuff to the first floor but some of it still got damaged. Its insane how much damage a flood can do.

Wow great pictures ViviUO! I pass through the area on occasion, being a Jersey Shore (PA) native who still has family there.

Looks like they gotta lot of work getting ready for the Fair this year!

Closer to my home, Montoursville got totally flooded. Man, we thought those days were over!

Thanks for sharing, cool to know we have a few NEPA'ers around here! :D

I was visiting my mother in NJ and started back to Georgia on Thursday (8th) and got trapped in PA for an additional 3 hours trying to go South. Route 81 was flooded around Allentown and I was traveling back roads and into towns I never see on my regular route. I was so happy to get to Virginia. The sun was out when I got there.

Side note: I stopped at a McDonalds along with several others that were detoured off Interstate 81 South and they had WiFi. My iPad was a great help figuring out possible ways to get around the water.

Wow, that is scary. My mother lives in the higher area in Bloomsburg. She mentioned some flooding in the area.....didn't realize how much, and I wonder if she realizes how lucky she was. Thank God you and your family are ok. Things can be replaced, people can't.

I also live in Bloomsburg along the river. We were very fortunate. We only had about 3 feet of water in our basement... So many of my friends lost everything though...
