Blu-ray burner for Mac Pro?

Guys,

I want to make a few Blu-ray DVDs for an indie film I've been working on. Most likely I will use Adobe Encore to author the master BR, then find a Blu-ray duplication company to make copies. So what Blu-Ray burner do you guys recommend? I have a 2009 MacPro 3.1(V10.6.8 2.8Ghz, 8 core with 28g RAM)

They have both internal and external models. I was thinking about getting an internal so I can use that second drive bay. I have an eSATA card in my MP. But it only has external ports. So I guess internal wouldn't work then?

Pretty sure the 2009 already has SATA ports internally for the optical drive.

I replaced my MP's SuperDrive with an LG BR burner from OWC. It works perfectly with both Windows and Mac.

Yeah, it does. Just checked it. I think I'll just replace the stock optical drive came with my MP with the LG blu-ray internal. Thanks!

went the external route with an LG burner/esata & USB connections...works perfectly. I felt it was simpler than the internal route.

The lower optical bay on a 2009 machine would already be prewired with SATA interface and power, so a BD drive should just drop right in. There's no real need in taking out the upper-bay stock drive unless you wanted to eventually install a 5th HDD/SDD in the second bay instead.

The only thing you really have to do with a 3rd party drive is remove trim piece from the front of the tray so the tray can clear the slot mechanism. Other than that, you should be good to go.

Whatever specs looks good and the price is agreeable. All Bluray burners are SATA, so you might need an adapter if it's the 2008 model. You posted MacPro3,1 which is the 2008 model, but you said 2009 model.
