Hi all,

Can't wait to get me a new Imac, but I really want a BR recorder in it. Has anyone heard recent rumors weather Apple is building an Imac with a recorder in it?

Thanks!

You can get an external or internal bluray burner now and use it for backups etc. But I can not see a bluray player being an option in a mac this year if it is not anounced at WWDC next week.

It was my hang on buying an iMac (yet I bought one). Anyhoo, I was told that you do not want to watch your BD movies on a 24" screen. I might, but they are right. If you want to watch BD content - buy a big-arse screen and a PS3.

The streaming HD content is however out of this world on a 24" top spec iMac... I was flabbergasted by it.

Your decision I'm afraid...

Repetition #37: Not before the Mac Pro.

If we don't see BluperDrives in the Mac Pro (and consequently, ACDs with HDCP) at WWDC this year, then we won't see them. Meaning that the iMac will not be able to play Blu-ray movies natively, ever.

Here's the order of BluperDrive options if they are created:

1st: Mac Pro
2nd: MacBook Pro (possible simultaneous with #1) two months later
3rd: iMac 24" (simultaneous with MacBook Pro if it is not done with the Mac Pro)
4th: iMac 20" at the revision after the 24" gets the option
5th: MacBook
6th: Mac Mini... NOT! It will easily be dead by then.

This really makes me happy to read. I agree with your previous statement about a big screen TV, but knowing that the iTMS HD content plays very well on the iMac makes me very excited to get mine and use Front Row. :)
