Leveraging the advanced technology of iPhone OS 3.0., Bluchat allows you to connect and instant message with people in the vicinity by establishing a direct connection between devices via bluetooth. Finally, instant messaging with out boundaries.

Bluchat offers peace of mind, allowing kids to chat without the worries of the Internet, allowing private conversations as no server is used, and allowing you to contact classmates or co-workers where internet or cellular signal is unavailable. We hope you find Bluchat to be as vital to your iPhone and iPod Touch 2G as we do.

Key features:
• Text chatting
• Share pictures from your photo library or take a live pictures using built in camera (supported devices only)
• “Noogies” help get the attention of the other user. A simple shake of the device will cause the person's device you are chatting with to vibrate (simulated for iPod Touch users
• Emoticons
• Streamlined interface
• Effortless connectivity, no pairing required.
• No in-between server saving you personal information or chat history

How Bluchat works:
When you launch Bluchat, the app immediately begins scanning the area and provides a list of discovered iPhone or iPod 2G devices also running Bluchat.

Selecting a listed name will instantly send a request to the user asking them if they would like to chat.

When the recipient accepts the invitation, both parties are instantly connected and can begin chatting.

holy crap, thank you for making this app (i'm not being sarcastic). every since i saw the 3.0 roadmap keynote in March and saw the peer-to-peer connectivity i was hoping someone was going to make an app like this. and to all of you ^^^ up there who say how can this be useful. well what if you're on a bus and you towards the back and the other person is near the front? what if you're at school and you're sitting across the room? what if you want to have a private conversation with someone else in the room? i don't even have a 2g ipod touch so i don't have bluetooth and i think this is really useful (although i'm going to get a 3g hopefully. and then i can buy this.)

Kahnyl/bndoarn,

You hit the nail on the head. This is exactly the intent of the application. Besides, even if you are within talking distance, the "Noogie" is still a lot of fun!
