Blue screen after boot, can't see desktop only mouse?

So my computer has been running slowly this week when opening applications. I shut it down before I slept and woke up and turned it on and everything goes proper but then it stops at blue screen with mouth and it constantly flashes every now and then, what's wrong with it, is there anyway to fix it? I tried restarting it without ethernet, and I tried holding shift key when turning on but after the little gear comes up the computer turns off
