Starting last Friday, I have not been able to sync my iPhone with my laptop. Each time I do, it ~immediately~ goes to the BSOD and tells me it encountered a fatal error and that it dumped the memory.

Searching online, I found that a few others have had similar occurrences. So, I did as they suggested and deleted my webcam program and all the camera photos from my iPhone. I can't delete the library photos because...I can't sync the darn phone.

I am running on Windows XP (yeah yeah) and I had tried to update with the Service Pack 3, but it too refuses to update and freezes before the final installation is complete.

I have no idea if this is related to the Windows issue or if this is an iPhone issue. ~Any~ suggestions would be welcomed as I would eventually like to sync my phone and laptop again.

As previously noted I have deleted the webcam program, uninstalled the drivers, and even deleted the Adobe Photo Album program (which has auto-camera detect). I do have a Lexmark printer, but it is not currently attached to the laptop. I have also tried switching USB ports to no avail.

Help! I don't know how many BSODs my poor heart can take before it gives out!

I have more problems with my Mac than I do with my Windows laptop. I tried watching Lost on abc.com last night on my 24" iMac only have the player installation freeze a number of times and when I finally got it to install correctly the playback was constantly freezing and skipping. NOTHING else running. It played flawlessly on my Vista HP.

I also had to resort to my laptop when I wanted to downgrade or jailbreak my phone.

Try to get your BSOD to happen again and post the stop error here. The stop error is much more helpfull in diagnosing your problem then "fatal error".

The stop error should be toward the bottom of the blue screen, and look something like this.

STOP: 0x12345678

Searching for this error in conjunction with iPhone should help you solve the problem
