Hi All,

I am having problems with bluetooth on my 12" powerbook. Specifically it wont keep the settings I set in System Preferences.

I am running 10.3.3 with bluetooth 1.5 and any time I reboot or wake the laptop it turns on bluetooth and sets it discoverable (all other settings seem to be kept). This was working with out any problems until I upgraded to bluetooth 1.5 (and 10.3.3 on a seperate occasion I wanted to see if a fresh install would help)

Currently my powerbook only has factory preinstalled software and thunderbird/firefox installed + OS X 10.3.3 upgrade, so I cant see it being any other bit of software cusing this problem and I have gone through every setting I can possibly find relating to bluetooth but nothing seems to help.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue as it is very annoying having to turn it off all the time (I only need it for syncing my phone address book every once in a while.

Try deleting its plist file. It's path is:

User>Library>Preferences>com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

Sadly this didnt work.

A bit more background into what I've been doing

- received laptop from apple :)
- bluetooth working fine
- upgraded to bluetooth 1.5
- problem starts
- upgraded to 10.3.3
- problem still exists

- wipe hdd and do a fresh nstall of OS X
- bluetooth fine.
- upgraded to 10.3.3 (which includes bluetooth 1.5)
- problem starts again.
- remove User>Library>Preferences>com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
- reboot
- problem still persists

Bluetooth settings
- open System Preferences \ Bluetooth
- Deselect "Discoverable"
- Select "Require Autentication"
- Select "Use Encryption"
- Turn off bluetooth
- reboot
- check bluetooth settings to find:
+ bluetooth has been turned on
+ discoverable has been turned on
+ Require authentication and use encryption have been turned off
