Just upgraded my old iPad 3 to a new iPad Pro 10.5. I have a CableJive Bluetooth audio receiver hooked up to my stereo and use it to stream audio from the iPad via Bluetooth. With the old iPad 3 (iOS 9.3.5), once it was connected to the Bluetooth receiver it would stay connected all of the time. With the new iPad Pro 10.5 (iOS 11.1.2), the Bluetooth only stays connected when audio is actually playing. Whenever the audio is paused, the connection the Bluetooth receiver keeps dropping, then reconnecting a few seconds or minutes later, then dropping, over and over again.

Not sure if the issue is an incompatibility with the older Bluetooth receiver, some power saving feature in the new iPad/iOS, or an issue with the iPad itself. Any thoughts?

Try updating to iOS 11.2 before anything else. Can’t say that this will resolve the problem, but always best to have the most up to date OS.

11.2 does not resolve this, and swapping the BT receiver out with another identical device does not resolve it either.

iPad 3 uses Bluetooth 4.0 whereas iPad Pro uses Bluetooth 5. There’s supposed to be backward compatibility with newer Bluetooth protocols. So, for your situation, it’s best to contact CableJive support and ask them if your BT audio receiver is fully compatible with iPad Pro.
