I've been having some trouble with Siri lately. Perhaps it's my pronunciation, but I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, so I generally figure that I speak a fairly standard form of English.
Yesterday morning I was brewing coffee so I said to the Siri that lives in a HomePod:
"Siri, two minute timer."
Siri replied:
"Ten minute timer starting now."
Ooops.
Later I was about to take a shower so I said to the Siri that lives in my watch:
"Siri, turn on water pump." - (Pressure so low we need a pump to shower. I live in Thailand.)
Siri replied:
"OK. I'll turn off bluetooth."
Ooops again.
But, this time Siri displayed on my watch what looked like a little switch with Bluetooth on it. The switch was off. I didn't want Bluetooth off, so I used the switch to turn it back on. Or so I thought.
This afternoon I had misplaced my iPhone so I wanted to ping it with my watch. But, the watch said my iPhone wasn't connected. After futzing around looking for a solution I was ready to unpair and re-pair the watch and phone when I had the serendipitous thought to actually check Bluetooth on the watch. And, sure enough, it was still off. So, the little switch that Siri displayed for me was, apparently, just a prop and not an actual switch. Now I know.
