The headphone jack is no more on the new iPad Pros, that's a bummer... but it's happened before and all we can do is adapt or buy some other device that better fits our needs.
If you're in the former camp, then there are some options!
Apple offers the USB-C -> Headphone jack dongle and it 'solves' the issue, but you lose the ability to charge the device, plus you're still tethered to it as well with your wired headphones. I honestly don't like this that much.
A second (and better option, imo) is to get a Bluetooth DAC. What these guys do, is connect to your devices through bluetooth and allow a wired headphone connection (or any 3.5mm connection).
There are several of these devices out there, here are some of my recommendations:
Fiio BTR3 ($69.99)
A bit pricey, but it's worth the money because it packs a ton of features:
- support for almost all BT Codecs (Apple's AAC and others like aptX HD, LDAC and LHDC)
- 11 Hour battery life
- USB-C connection to charge and to use as an external DAC for any other computer
- Noise Cancelling Mic.
- Has a clip like the iPod Shuffle
- connect to multiple devices, no need to re-pair
Fiio μbtr ($27.99)
Less than half the price of the BTR3.
It has almost the same features, but you lose the longer battery life, less codec compatibility, USB-C DAC functionality, and a bit less power for your headphones.
It's still worth it if you just need a way to plug in your headphones wirelessly in the smallest package possible.
As you can see, I'm a bit partial to Fiio, they make good audiophile grade stuff, feel free to post any other recommendations you might have! (or share why this solution is garbage )
