Hey all,

I've been having issues with bluetooth on my 7,1 and I can't figure it out. Everything will be fine for a few minutes, then randomly will disconnect, coming back a moment layer. I've tried SMC / PRAM resets, formatted the boot drive and reinstalled from scratch, even refreshed the firmware using Configurator - nothing seems to fix it.

I've gone so far as having to plug my Magic Keyboard in via lightning cable, use the Logitech dongle for my mouse and forget about using AirPods…

The only thing I've not tried is going back to OS 10.15, but that seems a bit drastic!

I'm running an 8-Core, I've added 3rd party RAM, upgraded to a W5700X GPU, and there's a Sonnet m.2 SSD RAID card installed…

Rob,

I'm a little foggy on this, but used to have tsimilar problems.

One suggestion (that didn't work for me but did for others) is to make sure - if you have one - that the wireless phone base unit is located well away from the computer. Under the right circumstance there can be interference between the base unit and the bluetooth device.

I finally went to the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse and the problems went away.

Here's an earlier thread (with some links to the Apple web sites) that might provide some relevant clues: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...pro-2019.2229330/?post=28349362#post-28349362

Ditto: Logitech MX Master & MX Ergo here, they both use a wireless transceiver & not awful bluetooth. With Apple's bluetooth devices, they are also issues with not being to boot intro recovery & that generally needs to be wired. Again, no so with the Logictech wireless devices.

Interesting you both mention the Logitech products - I've been using an MX Master 2S and since having all these issues switched over to the Logitech dongle… maybe their software is at fault?

Hello,

On my second Mac Pro, which is also an 8-core model, I had the same reliability issues with my Logitech MX Anywhere 2 mouse, which was connected via Bluetooth. For me, the solution was using the Logitech Unifying receiver connected via USB. It made the mouse more snappy and eliminated the intermittent lag. If you’re like me and, for whatever reason, don’t have the USB receiver (I accidentally threw mine away), you can order a new one for about $13 from Amazon, Staples, etc. It was more cost effective for me than buying a new mouse.

I have a similar issue on my iMac Pro. It started around OS 11.2 or so. Maybe once a day bluetooth will turn off for 30 seconds, then turn back on.

I had this issue on my 2020 MBP in clamshell mode and, at the suggestion of someone in another thread, turning off Handoff cut WAY down on the problem. I used to get it once a week or so and now it happens less than once a month.

I have turned off handoff a week ago and the problem has been gone for a week now. Dissapointed to hear that you still have problems occasionally, but agree that before the problem was happening daily before disabling handoff. God I hope this is fixed in macOS 11.3!
