Hi,

I got myself one of the Logitech Bluetooth Headsets, and have it paired to my Air. It works, using Skype and X-Lite, but the sound is really c...

Is this a result of a mediocre headset, or a bluetooth problem with the Air? I updated software yesterday, and there was a bluetooth update, which I hoped would solve my issues, but no.

The headset is working fine with our Siemens phones, but of course is only Bluetooth ver. 1.2.

I have the exact same problem
Telsted with a jabra BT8040 (really good headset) and i heat constant hissing and static.

tested with a SE MBS-100 (bluetooth speaker ball...) with a2dp support, same lousy sound quality with the air.

Both has perfect sound with Pc's and mobile phones.

I had the exact same problem with my macbook pro, but suddenly after I updated that to leaopard it started working on that computer. but now It's back with the newer computer. I suspect it is software related. But eitherway it is horribly annoying, and the computer is unusable for bluetooth audio, voip or a2dp....

My experience...

Bluetooth has always been an imperfect technology for my uses. I buy all the techiest devices and none have worked more than 10 ft. away. I just bought the Jawbone II and people can a) tell that I'm using BT b) hear snap, crackle, pop.

Yes bluetooth is in genera imperfect. But in the macbook air, it is far worse than PC's and mobile phones.

We should expect much more from a new computer. What I can find is that it even workes better in Vista on the macbook air than Leopard, that is absurd. And also points to lousy drivers.

you've actually verified this? at least we know it's now not a hardware problem...(i.e. air BT messed up)

Finally someone is picking this up, and I am no longer alone in the world:rolleyes:

My BT headset works fine on my phone in the house, as well as my mobile phones. I haven't tried it on Vista (via Parallels on my Mac Pro - as I can't get BT to work right there), but on the Mac Air it certainly is crap.

I don't know if it low quality of the BT headset, or the MA, but something is definitely wrong. I remember there was an update to BT on the MA sometime ago, but that did nothing.

No not personally, but I found this thread
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1454017

Where the poster states:

"...and everything else running off Bluetooth! Yes streaming A2DP on Vista on your Macbook Air !"

I actually ordered a vista license now (and a superdrive), I will go back to that from OSX, not only beacuse of BT of course, but 90% of all software I need works better on windows....
Still love the form factor of MBA, I hope it will bi a nice combo.

I will of course post my results here after my Vista installation.
