Bluetooth interfering wifi connection

i noticed in El Capitan that when using both bluetooth mouse (in my case, apple magic mouse) and wifi, my internet connection drop tremendously and almost unusable. even opening google website took 3minutes!

when i turn off bluetooth, internet connection seems to be fine again. i tested this behaviour numerous times and strongly assure that its the bluetooth that's causing problem. my router supports only 2.4ghz so im suspecting that's the connection bottleneck. i've tried trashing bluetooth plist, reset pram/smc and changing dns server and still, the problem persist

anyone else with similar problem?

I've been having this problem since 4-5 OS's ago. This forces me to stay away as much as possible from Bluetooth peripherals.

You may try to change the channel on your router. If it is set to "auto", then keep the BT device on and restart the router.

I am having the exact same issue. I've never had a problem before with wi-fi but now whenever I have bluetooth enabled my wi-fi is useless. Strangely my download speed is around 100KB/s sometimes lower but upload is 8mb/s which suggests it is only affected download and not upload. For reference I have a Retina MacBook Pro 15" mid 2012. I have logged the issue with Apple using the Feedback App. Hopefully it will be resolved.

yes mine is macbook retina 15" 2012 as well..seems like we're on the same boat. keep on logging the problem with apple (i've done 3 reports already) hopefully apple will fix this in upcoming updates

Make sure you log it as a bug through the Feedback App. The more of us that do it, the more likely Apple are to fix it.

there is a definitive fix for this, but not easy - use 5GHZ wireless instead of 2.4... zero interference with BT.

i don't have (much) this issue tough... it only manifests itself in places infested with tens of wireless 2.4 networks, and what breaks is BT not wireless

I've read lots of fixes for this including deleting the .pref files etc and none have worked so far. I'm reluctant to change the wireless frequency as I have some older equipment that might not work, I will give it a go though and see if it rectifies my MBP issue. Strangely it only affects the download speed, upload currently sits at around 8mb/s! I was running OS X 10.10.4 before installing the El Capitan Public Beta and that worked absolutely fine.

yes from the amount of people upgrading to El Cap and having similar problem i'd say its a legit issue. now if everyone helps out by reporting the bug then that'll help Apple push for a fix.

They haven't fixed mine. It's an absolute pain in the *ss. All I have so far found to do is to go back to a non-Bluetooth wired mouse for the net/e-mail. It was fine before el Capitan.

Same here. MBP 13" Retina, El Capitan 10.11.5. I thought it was the new PS4, then narrowing down the issue I discovered that turning off the controller (it uses the BlueTooth) the download speed went up. Now I turned off the BT on my phone and it went to full bandwidth. Yes, my WiFi connection is crap (Vodafone Community from outside, no access to the router) but that's what I've got right now.

Anyone has got a solution for this?

PS: apparently it is the MacBook Pro. I tried the same identical configuration with my old White MacBook 2007, Yosemite installed via hack, and I get full bandwidth. No interferences whatsoever. Which makes me wonder WTF Apple and whoever made that chip are doing.
