Bluetooth keyboard input delay

I have connected with my iPad mini with a bluetooth keyboard everything connected fine. However, there is a slight delay and sometime double registering keystroke. For example: If i were typing example, sometimes it will registered as exxample and backspace key always registered as double stroke.

I have tried to reconnect and reset the iPad no luck. The iOS build is iOS 7.1
