Suddenly bluetooth is not available anymore on my iBook g4 14" ? I cannot seem to turn it on or off through System Pref. Anyone know what might be causing this?

I did a search and came up with this.

In short, someone went onto Apple's support forums and found a technote for "bluetooth not available" for an iMac G5 with the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse.:

1) Unplug ALL USB devices
2) Power down the computer
3) Leave the computer off for 1 minute (in the case of my powerbook, I took out the battery
4) Reboot the computer
5) Bluetooth should now be working again

It worked for the guy in question.

If that doesn't work, check the System Profiler utility and see if Bluetooth HCI is listed under Hardware USB devices. If it isn't and you've tried the above, you may have a hardware problem.

get ready to be frustrated often by this. my powerbook does it all the time, just have to reboot and you have about a 50:50 chance of bluetooth coming back. im the type who doesnt power off, instead opting to sleep my mac, but after software updates, etc, its annoying to find yourself in the middle of work and need the bluetooth mouse, only to find it's "Unavailable".
