I purchased a JBL Charge 3 speaker to use with my Mac Mini. I figured after the initial pairing it would automatically connecting when the speaker was turned on.

This is not happening. I need to manually pair the speaker each time now when I want to connect within bluetooth settings. And after an initial first day of clear sound it now comes out choppy.

Aren't Macs supposed to auto connect to bluetooth speakers after the first pairing? This is a non issue with this speaker and my iOS devices.

Have you just tried removing the Charge 3 from the connected devices list (BT) and tried connecting it again? Reboot inbetween maybe?

Tried. Nothing works. Also I'm open to using it wired (from my Mac Mini to the speaker) but when I plug in the 3.5 jack into both it still does not recognize it.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Could it just be a faulty device, the Charge I mean? Or have you ruled that out in the meantime?

Well since my last post I was able to successfully use it plugged into my Mac Mini. However I wasn't happy with the sound quality so I purchased computer speakers instead.

The bluetooth issue remained, which is puzzling because the Charge had no problems connecting to my MBA even though both the MBA and Mac Mini are running the latest version of Sierra.
