I have an original Apple Watch Sport that has been working great for 2.5 years now. Last night I updated it to 4.2.2 and it was working fine and talking to my iPhone. Today I noticed that my iPhone is not showing any activity or steps since I left the house. The last activity recorded by the watch that is listed in the health app was while I was still at home. Nothing on my 1.25 mile walk to work, and nothing at work. We have a corporate WiFi network that I know the watch can't connect over (requires a certificate), so I'm thinking that it worked at home because the watch and iPhone were talking over my home WiFi network.

Weird thing is that my Apple Watch says it's connected to my iPhone in the control panel (green phone icon) and the bluetooth control panel items on my iPhone says it's connected. If I go to the watch app and try to check for updates, it will eventually time out because it can't connect to the watch.

I have tried doing a two-button reset on both devices. I guess I can un-pair and re-pair to see if that does the trick, but I'm wondering if the update killed my bluetooth antenna.

I got home, verified both iPhone and Apple Watch are both on home WiFi, and they still don’t talk. Not only does activity not update, but I can’t change the watch face from the iPhone watch app. Apps aren’t syncing anymore either. I guess I will give the unpair and repair a try. Kinda hoping this is an excuse to upgrade, so maybe I won’t put too much into troubleshooting.

Unpairing and repairing did the trick. All better now, but maybe I should upgrade while I can still get $50 trade in value for the S0. :p
