The bluetooth on my 2012 Mac Mini (10.8.5) stopped working today. The trackpad works for a few seconds even though bluetooth is "not available" but then it stops.

Resetting the PRAM didn't work.
Next, I installed the 10.8.5 combo update.
I deleted all of my BT devices.
Bluetooth does not appear in my preferences anymore.
Given the attachments, I'm assuming a hardware issue.
My mini is still under Applecare. Apart from upgrading the Ram to 16 GB and replacing the HD with a Samsung SSD everything else is original. Will the SSD affect APplecare? I don't have the original drive - SMART said it was failing.

Shouldn't be a problem. Ram and HDD are user serviceable. Unless you somehow damaged the internals, like dislodging the bluetooth card...
