Please help me before i destroy my computer...
We have just had a telewest blueyonder connection run into the house. We have a pc up and running on it which works fine, no problem.
I have a G5 that i want to connect as well but I cant get it to work at all! I have it connected directly to the supplied motorola surfboard modem and have it set up in network settings to connect using DHCP as told to by telewest. On the front screen of the network settins there is a note next to the 'built in ethernet' button that says 'Ethernet is currently active. Ethernet has a self assigned IP adress and may not be able to connect to the internet'
I can see it connecting and finding its address, but when I open a browser it cannot find any page. I spent 30 min on the phone to telewest only to be told that they dont have any apple macs there so they cant help, and that i should contact someone who knows about macs.
I have also tried connecting using PPPoE but when i try to connect the computer says it cannot find a PPP server. I was told that I didn't need to use PPPoE tho.
It seems stupid cos it should just work automatically straight away.
Would appreciate any help at all,
thanks for your time
