Hi, I connected a M1 iPad Pro 12.9” to a LG UltraGear 31.5” 1440p 165Hz Gaming Monitor. However, the text looks burry. Sometimes on the screen it says “The screen is not currently set to the recommended resolution. Configure the PC resolution to 2560x1440. (The 2560x1440 resolution configuration may not be supported on some PCs)

Current resolution: 3840x2160
Recommended resolution: 2560x1440”

Is there any way to make the text clear? I tried both HDR mode and SDR mode under Display & Brightness. Also, tried Default and More Space under Display Zoom. However, there is no improvement. I also did not set the iPad to 3840x2160. Not sure where the 4K resolution coming from.

In the past, I connected the iPad to a 4K TV. There was no such issue.

Also getting a lot of problems with different monitors, Apples external display implementation is terrible. All they would need to do to fix it is add an option for setting the resolution on your external display yourself but I guess they think having the system do it on it’s own is a cleaner solution even if it picks the wrong resolution (and even aspect ratio).

Thanks. On the Mac, there are third party apps that can do that. How about iPad?

When I connected the iPad Pro M1 12.9” 2021 to a 4K TV, I did not notice any deficiency in image quality. However, when connected it to a 1440 monitor (again via HDMI), I can see pixilation on the background photo of iPad OS and blurry text. Is the poor image quality due to resolution in Display Zoom (Large Text, Default and More space) for the external monitor not matching the native resolution of it? How does it work?

Is there an iOS app that allows users to choose more resolution settings for external display?
