As noted on Apple's official community/forums, there's a bug that renders the text very blurry - many here think that the font choice is causing this, not at all. When rebooted, the font is just as clear and easy to read - more or less - as Mavericks was/is. As noted, again, on Apple's own forums, a restart fixes this, though, at least with me (and some other people), it will return, until another restart.

This is a bug, and I can't recall if the thread on Apple's forums mentioned that Apple were aware of this, or not.

Curious if anyone else has run into this bug, and what was your setup/config?

I'm running a 2009 27 iMac with Radeon HD 4850.

How do we go about reporting this to Apple, in case they're not aware of it?

The thread on Apple's forum even had one user that had this issue with his Retina iMac. So it's not a Retina vs. non-Retina display thing.

If we all report this to Apple, hopefully they'll get this fixed sooner than later.

Nobody? Besides the WiFi bug, this bug is, by far, the most that I have issue with. Upon a clean start, all text is crystal clear and JUST as great as Mavericks, IF NOT BETTER. Then overtime becomes blurry and difficult to read. Fortunately I haven't had the WiFi issue, so for me, this bug is by far the most problematic.

Thread where people have this exact same issue -

https://discussions.apple.com/message/26853159#26853159

Who ever can, please file this bug with Apple, as I have already done -

https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

Still curious if anyone else out there has this issue, or if there's anybody who's had Yosemite running on their Mac without a restart for at least week without this bug appearing for them?

I disagree with some of the users on the Apple forum thread about the fonts themselves being an issue on Yosemite, I think they're better than Mavericks, however this bug makes any font an issue.

I have this problem on my mid-2012 MBP. I did a clean install of Yosemite and I DID NOT have this issue on Mavericks.

The font randomly becomes faint, jagged in the menu bar.....like right now. Safari in the favourites bar are really awful to look at.

I don't really need to do a restart. It just comes and goes. Really weird. I've tried all the possible fixes, but nothing really works. It may or may not be a font rendering. Some people who have retina display are complaining of this too.

Here is OSXDaily talking about it, but that didn't work for me.
http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/27/change-font-smoothing-text-os-x-yosemite/

There are other tech sites posting articles about this, but I don't have the time right now to find them.

Some people are using the Lucinda Grande font patch that is on MR, but that didn't work for me in apps like Notes and Chrome.

I really miss the crystal clear bold LG font of Mavericks and I'm waiting for a fix from Apple. Ideally, Apple should offer a bolder font choice for us. I've already sent numerous reports to Apple Feedback and I do believe there is a report in on Radar. It's really frustrating and my eyes get sore from straining.

Thanks for the response!

I actually think the font of Yosemite is BETTER than Mavericks, and when this bug isn't hinder the rendering of the font, it's just as clear and easy to read as Mavericks. As noted in the Apple forums link that I linked, people with Retina displays are having this issue (like you) and using a different font, like LG, didn't change a thing. It's not the font itself, but the rendering of it that bugs out.

I submitted a bug report to Apple, I think you should do the same, and everyone else should too should we hope to get this fixed sooner rather than later.

Take care

Finally i reduced the transparency and added 3rd pard app (cDock) for making just my dock looking fine and "it just work".
