bollywood themed event – fonts??

Hey there,

I've got to design some bits (flyers, posters etc) for a bollywood themed party.

Does anyone know of some cool looking Indian style fonts that I could use (preferably free as there's no budget for this).

I've looked around, but am having no luck so far, I just wondered if one of you guys may have seen or used something relevant.

I found this example of mock-Hindi with Roman characters although that's obviously drawn. Is that the kind of thing you mean?

Yes, I will use a roman style font for all the details and an indian style for the title.

I would like to customise my own title, alas, time and budget wont let me.
I really need a vectored font for this, any ideas where to get one??

I found that by googling 'mock Hindi font'. You might have some luck with doing the same... I would help more but have to dash out this afternoon.

Heh! I found the same page. It says halfway down that the font she uses is shareware, but unfortunately doesn't say the name of the font. You could try emailing her, but it was written in 1998, so I'm not sure she would answer.

It might be worth trying googling "mock Gujarati" as well as "mock Hindi", but it's hard to filter out the genuine fonts for typing in Gujarati.

Man, I wish I'd thought of doing this for my wedding...Our place cards ended up using a mock Arabic script for variables with actual hindi for constants...
