"Fire words" should hold you until bookworm comes out.
Fire Words is more like the Action version of Bookworm. It's nice, and it looks like Bookworm, but one of the things I love about regular Bookworm is taking my time to craft long, difficult words. You can't do that in Fire Words because the blocks are constantly burning -- not just as a result of creating short words.

WordsWorth is a better comparison. I also just picked up "Words - English" by Mobilutions, which has a similar feel as well.

Right now, Scrabble is actually keeping me occupied, but I'm eagerly waiting for Bookworm to arrive, which I hope happens within my device's lifespan!!

I love Bookworm and Wordsworth is my curent choice to scratch that particular gaming itch. Magic Words Arcanum is also similar. I didn't really like Firewords all that much. I too hope for an actual port of Bookworm.

Magic Words is a similar game in terms of mechanics of play, but instead of burning tiles it employs "monster" tiles that suck up your life if you don't get rid of the tile. You also get to use spells that help you to form words, and the new version allows you to place gems onto tiles to get more points and also a new ranking system to track your progress to the so-called "Arcane Grandmaster" level. Takes awhile to figure out the spells tho, but other than the learning curve it's quite fun.

Greenymac. Do you know that it is coming already? Or are you just hoping that the company will make it?

WordsWorth is my favorite word game!!

I was addicted to Bookworm and was dead sure it would be out on the iPhone. WordsWorth is a blessing in disguise!! This game is gripping and has a lot more challenges and custom options than BookWorm provided. I think most bookworm lovers are going to love this game!! A must have word game in my opinion!

Thanks for the head's up, jparris. While the $4.99 price is ok, I will wait to get it when it goes on sale eventually.

$4.99 seems quite reasonable for a quality app to me. And there is no guarantee any app will ever go on sale anyway..

Still, good that its finally out :)

How far have people gotten in this? I'm at 55% of the book list and have gotten up to Publisher. Fun game.
