I'm running Windows 7 x64 on my late 2006 MBP without any problems or hiccups. I did have to burn a modified image of Windows 7 for it to boot, but otherwise, everything works like it should, all drivers installed fine, etc.

Integrated BootCamp V3.1 Installer?

I don't like to install BootCamp V3.0 drivers and then update them with V3.1, since many of the Apple, Broadcom, Atheros and Intel drivers are affected by the update. The updated BootCamp installation also installs RealTek V2.33 HD Audio Codecs on my MacBook Pro 13" (Mid Jun 09), which doesn't even have this hardware. If you look at the installed programs in the Control Panel after running both installations, you'll note a number of old drivers mixed with the new. On a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate (x86) I would prefer to have an integrated BootCamp V3.1 setup file, where the applicable V3.0 drivers have been replaced by their V3.1 versions while leaving the others alone. However, I haven't been able to do this because I can't extract the V3.1 installation .cab files to examine them separately.
Would it be possible for someone here to integrate the two BootCamp installations and upload the result to allow one clean installation of the most recent Apple drivers over a Windows 7 clean installation? Or am I dreaming here?

Ok I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro Mid 2009 - Has anyone else noticed the terrible colour profile Apple has made standard?! It's like the contrast was turned way up. Now all my green progress bars look neon and anything red bleeds. I'm not even sure where to get rid of this - any help? I'm not seeing any options in Colour Management.

Also, when my computer logs in, everything looks normal for a couple seconds, then boom, ugly colour profile kicks in. Not sure if this affects other models.

Edit - looks like a digital vibrance setting on the Nvidia drivers was turned up. Thanks a lot, Apple.

Agreed.
It's super noticeable on the logon/off/reboot splash screens.
Verified it was running in 32 bit colour.
My computer says yes, but my eyes say nein.

I have this too, a late 09 iMac, Anyone have an possible solution to this?

hi, im running, umbp late 2009
2.66Ghz, 4GB RAM, 640GB WD HDD
i upgraded to the bootcamp 3.1 on my Window7 ultimate x64 partition and my performance says:

proccesro: 6.3
RAM: 5.9
Graphic: 6.5
gaming graphic : 6.5
Hardddisk : 5.8

total score 5.8

is this score acceptable ?
or should i upgrade to the latest NVIDIA driver from nvidia homepage ?

Well all my devices are working in windows 7 except my external FireWire iSight camera. Windows 7 can't find drivers for the iSight (in my 3.1 2008 Mac Pro -dual 8 core). Sometimes I just hate Windows 7 because I wouldn't have bought it except for the fact my work requires it.

Macs and Windows are both cool. Why not use both? Use iTunes on your Mac and Office on your Windows.

Or run iTunes on your Mac and OpenOffice on your Mac.

Hmm, no support for the MacPro1,1? It's got a 64 bit CPU and SHOULD be able to run Windows 7 just fine.
...
What's with Apple orphaning still very capable hardware? I understand them dropping PowerPC support but this 2006 Mac Pro is still hella fast.

You didn't really think that Apple's policy of abandoning legacy systems would stop with PPC? Wait till you see which systems won't run 10.7.

Well after I get mah school work done for my Photoshop class, I think
I am going to give it a shot. I tried to install 64-bit 7 like a few weeks ago
but got pissed because of the headache trying to get my mouse (magic) and wireless keyboard to work. After this update, should be easier eh?

Does anybody know how to get bootcamp 3.1 onto Windows 7? I have a clean install of Windows 7 and I can't install bootcamp 3.1 or bootcamp 3.0 from the Snow Leopard disc.

I have a June 09 15'' mbp. Couldn't you just manually uninstall the realtek drivers as well? I've always thought about doing this.

Updated just now and still no joy with LED Disp brightness control, also numerical keypad on keyboard has no fix either.

Bad Apple!

Me and my room mate both have the same computer. A 2009 Unibody Macbook pro. I Upgraded his boot camp utility with no problem. I get some strange error that prevents me from doing anything. It says Preparation Failed. I've tried the downloaded file in flash drive, tried downloading the file from apple's website, and apple update on my windows 7 with no luck. Please help.

That's what I ended up doing, without any loss of sound. But I'd rather not install unneeded drivers in the first place. I was finally able to extract the BootCampUpdate32.msp files using 7Zip and renamed each of the bin files to executables. This allowed me to identify exactly which drivers are included in the update package. But I can't remove selected files from the .msp updater to modify its contents.
Guess I'll have to live with it for now. Just need to get a hold of a future Mac OS X installation disc with an integrated Boot Camp executable and that should do the trick. I'm not IT savvy enough to waste my time on doing it myself.

I agree. I realize apple just makes their BC installer include every possible driver for mac computers, but this just leads to bloat and possible driver conflicts. There are probably a ton of other drivers for hardware we don't have on our mbp's that are installed with this update as well. The issue is that the best way to get a fully problem free bootcamp install seems to be having to reinstall windows fresh each time there's a bootcamp driver update.

Can Windows 7 control the brighness? On my Sony VAIO it automatically dims the screen after a set period. Will my MacBook be able to do this with Windows 7 installed?

Well.. I put Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate on my Mac Mini. Very fast and snappy. I am sure that my ram upgrade has a lot to do with it. I am pleased
that the wireless keyboard and magic mouse took a minimal amount of effort
to get working. It's cool. I've been a Windows user for over a decade but
have zilch experience with Windows 7. I like it though. Still prefer OSX.
Only installed this to play a few games between online classes.

WISH the magic mouse had gestures though!!!

Windows 7 XP Mode still doesn't work on my Mac Pro (Early 2008) after BC 3.1, no surprise there. Still need an EFI firmware update to permanently enable to VT-D (hardware assisted virtualisation) extension on the CPU's.

The Early 2009 model got an EFI update on Monday to fix VT-D issues.

I logged an Apple support call, gonna chase every week till this is fixed now

To reply to my own post :) Is it ok if we uninstall the redundant apple drivers from bootcamp 3.0? Apple decided (in its wisdom) not to remove previous verions of the apple keyboard, bluetooth, and some other drivers from bootcamp 3.0. You can still see these old drivers in the "program settings" control panel under windows 7. Will this mess anything up if I uninstall them? Is it a problematic that they're still there overlapping the new ones? I suppose I could just leave them alone!

Another 27" owner with the Banding Issue on 64bit Win7 - come on Apple sort this out.

Im taking the plunge and installing the latest ATI Drivers

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

BANDING FIX - worked for me.
Ok the installing the above failed, but I have fixed it!

After installing the above and it doing nothing so I removed all the ATI drivers. The screen went balck and then went to 800x600 in the middle of the 27" screen .

I ran the BootCamp_3.1_64-bit installer again and it asked me to restart.
On restart the screen was still 800x600 but stretched.
I logged in I was told drivers had been installed and to restart again.
I restarted and when it came back banding had gone. :D

Driver Date is now: 23/09/2009
Driver version: 8.661.0.0

Man, I would love to know the answer to this too.

I can't find any form of Bootcamp installed on my iMac i7, and the updater does nothing when I try to launch it.

Although, with the problems some late 09 iMacs are having with this, I may just be better off. I have a gaming keyboard/mouse anyway, so don't need the fixes : )

I've had problems installing 3.1 on my W7 Pro x64 install: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/851546/

Was fixed by manually extracting the files from the update, and doing some command line stuff. I don't remember what I had to type because I don't have the files anymore for the update. Maybe if someone could open up the .exe BC update with WinRAR and tell me what's inside, I could come up with the command that might help you guys.
