I need help!
i am new to the mac world based soley on the face that autocad would not work on macs.
but with the announcement of bootcamp, i decided to switch and i am now typing this on my brand new macbook pro.
i installed bootcamp and everything seemed to go fine, after the installation i wondered if i had made the right decision with my division of my partition so i went to open bootcamp and it tells me that i cannot run bootcamp because i need to update my software.
well there are no more software of firmware updates available.

i would really like to delete the partition and windows hard drive but utility disk won't let me.

so i tried to run my osx software at start up to try and delete everything with a system restore, but it told me there was a problem with the installation.

what are my options? how do i delete and start over????
has anyone else had this problem with bootcamp??

Erase the hard drive. Boot it up on the software CD, and go into Disk Utility, and erase it. Then install OS X and you're good. I think.

i tried to erase the windows harddrive but it didn't work...
when i boot up with the osx cd it won't work, it tells me there was an error when installing the software...
how do i delete the partition or the windows harddrive??

Hmmm.. thats odd... maybe there is a problem with your original OSX restore cd... when booting with the osx cd are you just trying to erase the windows partition with disk utility, or are you trying to wipe the whole drive to reinstall osx?

when i try to restore using the software cd i would wipe out the whole thing if mac would let me but it won't so i am trying to wipe out the windows side in the system restore. but i keep getting an error.
i think i can't delete the windows harddrive from the mac side of my harddrive, maybe i should try deleting it from the windows side??

Are you just clicking "Erase and install" from the installer? If so, that won't work. You have to boot from the DVD ...then, when the installation box shows up, go up to the menu and choose "Open Disk Utility"

If you aren't opening "Disk Utility" from the menu then that is your problem. The regular installation procedure doesn't include the ability to partition anything.

that was my problem, i was trying to delete and change the partition from the operating system and not from start up.

thanks for the help, hopefully the next trial with boot camp will work.:)

Good to hear ...easy thing to overlook if you are new to Macs
