Boot Camp Error

Im trying to use boot camp on my intel mac pro to install XP. However, after I choose my partition size (50GB) it tells me that it can't partition and I need to repair my disc using the disc utility. I did that once and successfully repaired the disc. I rechecked the disc and it came back no errors. So I ran boot camp once more and go the same damn error. So back to disc utility I go. I rescan and come back with no errors. Try boot camp and same error.

How much free space do you have overall? The partitioner needs a 50 GB span of drive space that's free. You'll more then likely be able to pull off a smaller partition or you're going to need to reinstall OS X.

right now i have a 250gb hd with over 175gb or so free. i know i have plenty of room.

I have the same problem It keeps telling me that it needs to be OSX Extended (Journal), but Disk Utility says it is?!?! A bit of history - I purchased my MacBook Pro pre-Leopard, and ran Windows XP using Boot Camp Beta. When I installed Leopard I reformated to one partition, and now I am trying to install XP using the full Boot Camp. Any ideas?

Try this,

1. In disk utility, format the partition you want to install Windows using FAT file format.
2. Do not use bootcamp, just boot off your Windows CD/DVD and press F6 to install any necessary drivers (if installing Vista, very unlikely that you'll need to install drivers)
3. Select the partition for installation and format again using NTFS file format.
