Boot Camp Install problems...

Hello everyone,
I recently replaced my logic board on my 1st Gen Mac Pro and it seems to be working great. I am having an issue installing Boot Camp onto a separate internal hard drive. I am using my regular boot drive for my OS X and then wanting to use the second drive for XP. The drive is formatted via disk utility. I go to Bootcamp assistant and then tell it to erase drive and install windows. I put in my XP Pro SP2 disc into drive. Everything seems to work fine. The computer restarts and starts doing that usual preperation. When the installer is ready for me to choose which drive to install on, there is my OS X drive, then a 200MB partition (F and then the one I want (C). After I hit enter on the C: drive, it tells me that I cannot install windows XP on it because it requires some start up installer files or something like that. The strange thing is that I hit enter on the C: drive and it tells me I cant about my OS X Drive. I cant figure out how to explain it but I have had bootcamp on this drive before. I erased it after I installed new logic board just to start fresh. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I apologize for the randomness of the first post. I have more info and details on what is happening. Like I said, I am trying to install Windows XP Pro on my 2nd internal drive via Boot Camp. After the drive has been formated, Boot camp does it's thing. The machine restarts and starts the process. Then the menu with the blue screen comes up for me to choose which drive to install XP on. This is what I see....

To install Windows XP on the partition you selected, Setup must write some startup files to the following disk:

305243 MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on atapi mbr

However, this disk does not contain a Windows XP-compatible partition.

To continue installing Windows XP, return to the partition selection screen and create a Windows XP-compatible partition on the disk above. If there is no free space on the disk, delete an existing partition, and then create a new one.
//Obviously there is a mistake because I am not selecting that drive, I am selecting the 238... one. What the heck am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and hope to get help soon.

You really don't need bootcamp. I have no idea what that 200 MB partition that is created (i have it too...), but otherwise, you really have no use for it. Disconnect the HD with OS X, install Windows on the other drive you wanted it on. After everything is installed, reconnect the other HD and see how everything works. Holding down the option key is NOT a bootcamp feature- it's built into the firmware.

Give that a try, and see what happens.

You really don't need bootcamp. I have no idea what that 200 MB partition that is created (i have it too...)

The 200mb partition is the EFI system partition ( swap partition ), EFI uses it to load the EFI boot-time device drivers, don't ever delete it or you will find things going tits up

Thanks for the replies. I ended up taking out the 2nd internal hard drive thinking that maybe it was just bad. I tried to do everything with my os x boot drive. I partitioned the drive so that 250GB for Mac OS X and 60GB for Windows XP. Everything seemed to work ok. I was asked to insert my XP disc into the drive and it started the process.
When the partition select screen came up, it actually showed the 60GB with the words "BOOTCAMP" next to it. Very exciting. It then asked me what I wanted to do format wise. I had the option for NTFS (quick), NTFS, and one that said keep it the way it is and dont change it. I chose NTFS because I dont need to move files from OS X to the drive. It formatted, copied some files and BAM! restarted with nothing but a black screen, monitor went to standby mode and power light on my tower was off. The machine still seemed to be on. I hard restarted after about 10 minutes. Nothing ended up happening. Went to OS X and saw the bootcamp partition with nothing on it and so I decided to bring it all back to one partition.
I don't understand why this is happening. I have used boot camp so many times in the past. I have the latest updates and firmware on my system. Ever since I replaced my logic board, boot camp won't install. Everything else is working perfectly.

Maybe I will try to install windows using Markov's technique. Thanks again.

I dont have any jumpers on any of my hard drives. Possible problem with this?
