Boot Camp Issues with 2018 MBP

I’m having a number of issues with Boot Camp and Apple’s drivers on the new MBPs, in addition to the obvious throttling:

1. Audio lags by up to 2 seconds through the headphone jack. This can be seen in everything from DirectX applications, to YouTube, to even iTunes.
2. Audio will start to "crackle" throughout the system regardless of output source, intermittently when not under load and consistently under load.
3. When rebooting from Windows to macOS the internal keyboard and trackpad are disabled, requiring you to kill power to the system entirely to restore control.

Is anyone else having these problems?

I haven't had the audio issues - granted I haven't used my headphone jack.

And YES - I get the rebooting issue. Drives me crazy.

They must have rushed uploading the bootcamp drivers without much testing? Not entirely sure though.

Well that would appear to be in line with how they released the rest of the machine.

What model do you guys have by the way? I have a 2018 15 inch 2.6ghz model and I couldn't install windows 10 last night because bootcamp said there were no drivers to download.

My Win10 install via BootCamp went well. No crackling on audio. I can move back and forth from one OS to the other. My ArcMouse works perfectly with Win10 which I will use 99% of the time on this 2018 15” SG 2.6 16gb 512gb.

I could not be more happy. Runs my AutoCad, QBPro and full MS Office.

When I shut down Win10 and restart hold the “alt” key, it boots into the Apple OS and the keyboard and trackpad works fine. My ArcMouse does not work unless I go though the BT sync which is not worth it for me as I am on Windows most the time.

Have you tried rebooting into OSX by just right clicking the bootcamp icon in the task bar and clicking "Reboot into OSX"?

That's the way I have been trying and every time my trackpad and keyboard won't work until I force a shutdown.

Like I said I maybe will boot into High Sierra 3-4 times a year to check for updates. This is a Windows 10 machine to me and it is fast.

This is a problem with warm restarts, not cold boots. And the audio issues, are to me, the bigger problem.

So I was finally able to get windows 10 on my MBP through boot camp. The first try failed when it was installing the boot camp drivers and I got a black screen and it booted back up into windows repair. Booted into MacOS and removed the windows partition on boot camp assistant and tried again. Second time went through no problems. I tested the problems you were having.

1. I tested the audio through the headphone jack. I only tested YouTube so far and I do noticed a slight delay in the lip sync but not the 2 seconds you are having. No audio lag when using the speakers.

2. I never had any audio crackle while using it.

3. I tested rebooting from Windows to MacOS and my keyboard and trackpad both work fine. I went to Boot Camp Control panel on windows and selected to restart into MacOS.

1. Those delays sound in line with what I’m seeing. The 1-2 seconds is the worst case I’ve identified and appears in anything using DirectSound (from what I can tell).
2. Crackle happens under load, but I haven’t been able to easily replicate it, since it takes a while.
3. Are you using FileVault? I theorized it might be that stage in the bootloader causing problems, but don’t want to go through the hassle of disabling it to check.

Aha! I bet that’s it, then, unless someone comes in with FileVault enabled and doesn’t have the issue.

I'm seeing all the same issues you listed and am using FileVault. Disabling FileVault for me is not an option. As a temporary workaround I'm using a 3.5mm female to usb-c male so my headset registers as a USB audio device in Windows. This fixes the headset audio issues. As for the annoying restart problem, I'll just have to remember to shutdown instead of restart until it's resolved =\

Ive tried installing windows 10 on my new 15” mbp. It’s not working for me with filevault on, thats for sure.. used bootcamp assistant. It cannot use the bootcamp volume created by the bootcamp aasistant in macos

I am having the exact same problems for you. I thought I was going crazy. I just bought a 15inch MB pro 2018 model and bootcamped it. Any audio running from my headphone jack is like 2 or so seconds out of sync. Have you managed to fix this issue yet?

I've installed AMD Radeon drivers from bootcampdrivers.com and brightness control works for me, althoug the Volume control does not and Apple GUI is never shown on volume changes

Has anyone had any luck with their Bootcamp issues? My 2018 i7 2.6 has been having the same problems. Every time I restart to Mac from Windows my keyboard and mouse are dead. A shutdown and boot cure the issue.

The speakers start to crackle about 10 minutes into doing anything; I notice it more reliably when I'm gaming or doing something else heavy on Windows.

I haven't tried to reproduce the headphone lag issue, but I'm getting a sinking feeling I suffer from that, too. Did Apple even test these machines before they shipped them?!
