Boot Camp not installing XP

When I get to the menu to select what hard drive to select (should be FAT32 or whatever) it only shows it as Unknown and when I select it it goes through the installation but then reboots itself back to the same menu. Not only that, how do I exit and go back to Mac OS X because I'm stuck in XP setup and when I take the XP CD out all I get is a blinking file icon with a question mark

Reboot holding the option key

Print the installation instruction for Boot Camp and follow them carefully

And make sure you have a back up of your data
