If I want to install winxp via bootcamp onto a mac pro, do we still need to slipstream a new XP SP2 disc with intel drivers? If so, any idea what drivers I need, where to get them, and how to slipstream a disc?

I remember when BC first came out there was this issue with drive speed in boot camp on mac pros - I didnt have my mac pro then so I don't know if this is still an issue or not.

Thanks.

No, if you apply all the latest firmware and SMC patches you don't need to slipstream the drivers.

making slipstream cd with mac virtual pc

I have a MacBook Pro and want to install Boot camp on it in order to run some games. I have researched forever how to creat a slipstream CD in order to get my Win XP Professional disk to work. However the stumper is that I am having to do in on my iMac G5 using Virtual PC (my only windows invironment) to make it. I am using the help of the web site http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html to get me thru this. I have gotten to the point of integrating the XP-CD to the XP-SP2 file I downloaded and I can't seem to get my command.com terminal to look at these files. In the terminal it reads: c:\docume~1\jonath~1> and I don't know if this is the root directory or how to get there or if putting the intergrate line after this is what I should do. The instructions say:

Next, open a Command Prompt (Start > Run > cmd), and go to the folder where you downloaded SP2 (cd \foldername). Type the command: servicepack filename /integrate:drive/path. In my example the command is WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:d:\XP-CD.

I can't seem to get to the folder (cd\xp-sp2). How to do this?
It is on the desktop and don't know what the (c:\docume~1\jonath~1>) pertains to, since this is in virtual pc mode. Any help would be great, since people have said that this is an easy 10 min project. OK show me how?
Thanks for your time.
