Should I get Vista or XP SP3. I have the 2.0Ghz Macbook Aluminum with 4GB of RAM up from the standard 2. I am only really getting it to play some games and maybe some upcoming titles so I was thinking Vista for more compatibility but does it use more of my Mac's resources to run? Will I get a faster experience overall with XP SP3 or should I just get Vista? Thanks for the help!

I went with XP.. Because it uses less resources, and when I launch my bootcamp partition in VMware/Parallels, it wont be super slow.

For gaming on a 2.0 macbook there wont be much difference. Vista is good for games because of directX 10. Though the video "card" in a macbook is not the greatest so you wont even have the graphic settings high enough to take advantage of directX 10.

I guess I'm going to just go with SP3. It's not going to be my main operating system anyway plus it's cheaper and will use less of my Macs resources. Is not having DX10 with XP going to cause some issues though with games or will DX9 suffice?

Depends on which game of course. Generally, no.

if you got vista 64bit you could use all 4gb ram, but IMO it won't be needed. I plan to upgrade to 4GB ram but am using XP and I'm only using it for gaming and 3.3GB ram recognized is fine for most any games the GPU can handle anyway

BTW if you're just using boot camp for gaming, I suggest getting TinyXP. It's what I'm using, a bare install w/ driver pack, boots up super quick and uses very little system resources. It's minimalist but I got steam installed and firefox, that's about it. Runs HL2 on high settings w/o anti-aliasing no probs.. 2.0 alu w/ 2GB stock ram.
