How old is the XP disc? It has to be Service Pack 2 or later. If it's the original version or Service Pack 1, it won't show the Boot Camp partition as it's not a supported OS. I've (stupidly) tried to install the original 2001 version of XP before using Boot Camp on my iMac about a year ago, and selected the only partition that showed up...and it wiped my entire OS X partition :p
