Today I wanted to install Windows 10 on my iMac for the first time with Boot Camp, so I downloaded the ISO file from the official site (the April 2018 version) and then started Boot Camp. It all went well, but then the loading bar stopped at 2/3.

It stopped at "partitioning disk" - felt like 2 hours after that I cancelled the procedure. I didn't get any error messages.

I then looked in the disk utility and it created each time "OSXRESERVED" and "BOOTCAMP". After canceling the process, I deleted it again and tried again - in vain.

I really would appreciate your help :)

Data about my iMac:

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB DDR4
Graphics card Raden Pro 570
Fusion Drive 1.03 TB

9 to 5 Mac has some excellent video on this. I used the 2018 Mac Mini boot camp video but it would be the same for the iMac.

I just looked at the windows iso files and I’m seeing Oct 2018 and May 2019. I would try the Oct version, I know one person reported success with that earlier this year.

Sorry I meant the Oct 2018 Version not the April one.
Do you have the link for the 9 to 5 Mac video about that issue?

The video is the install process I used. I installed boot camp a few times and it is temperamental using external monitor, Egpu.

Another good video from 9 to 5

Thanks for the videos.

I did it the same way as in the videos, but the Boot Camp Assistant just doesn't want to keep going from where it's partitioning.

It's stuck at 2:16 (first video)

BTW I'm not using any external monitors nor eGPUs.

Thats odd, its almost like something in security setting but you would think it would tell you. Do you have file vault on, just curious.
