Boot Camp problem driving me crazy

So I'm trying to install Windows 10 with Boot Camp using El Captain. No matter whether I download the ISO file from Microsoft's website or copy it on a USB drive and install it in the Mac I get the same message: only supports 64 bit versions of the OS. Except my version is 64 bit. So there appears to be an error in Boot Camp?? How can I get around this (relatively easily)?

Here's a thread about the same problem with Window 7 and Boot Camp. Maybe it will get you going with Win10.
