Is the question one of a technical nature? Whether the license is for student use is irrelevant, this will work as a boot camp source disk.

Unless Nermal knows something about the Student Edition that stops it working on a Mac?

OK, it works, however it is still a violation of the licence. We do not condone piracy here, which is why I said no.

And if it's licensed for student use then once again... I can use windows for that purpose. In fact, Microsoft word (i hate to say it) runs better on a windows os. Just like Itunes runs better on a mac.

How is it piracy? I didn't steal it? It was my legal copy...

In your original post you said that it's your brother's copy from university, and I assumed that it was paid for as part of his course costs (which is usually for the enrolled student's exclusive use). If he picked it up on your behalf then I apologise.

I still question the legality. That software was downloaded according to Microsoft's MSDN terms, so it is strictly for student use within that University.

We are both students there. He picked it up for me because I didn't know about the offer. But I am eligible. He didn't even install it onto his computer, he hates windows. It's alright, don't apologize but don't make assumptions either.

Of all the students who download onto their personal owned computing machines. How many do you think use it strictly for school? That's like saying you can install this software onto your machine that you payed thousands of dollars for, you just cannot use it for anything other than school work.... that to me is just too extreme.
