Well, I never thought is would happen, but I want a Windows partition on my iMac to play games (nothing against Windows, I'm just not that much of a gamer). I was wondering, when I got my HP laptop last year, I made a set of recovery discs (two of them) and when I got a new HD from HP, they also sent me a recovery disc to reinstall the system. Could I use the recovery disc HP sent me, or is it already "registered" to my laptop? Could I use the discs I made months ago, or is that also a no go? I don't know whether I can use the recovery discs or not and checking Mac Guides/Apple's site doesn't help, since I don't know if a recovery disc counts as a "full copy" of Windows. I'm sure someone here can help.

They wont work as legit copies of the OS, they probably wont even make it past getting the install loader.
like the recovery disks shipped with Macs theyre specifically tied to that computer it was purchased with and the brand as well.

besides theyre usually full of bloatware and misc. unnecessary addons and installs so much junk. probably just best to get a cheap copy of XP Pro Sp2 off ebay or amazon so you have a basic clean install of xp anyway.

Yeah, I didn't think so. I guess I'll just use my laptop until I feel like spending money on XP/Vista. I just didn't want to use my laptop since it's a tiny screen and loud as hell (the fans never shut up). Plus, it's just more convenient to use one computer, even if I do have to restart.
