Parallels supports DirectX now and you can play games on it. The performance isn't as good as Boot Camp though, which is advisable for nearly every game. There are no "incompatibilities" with Boot Camp as it just turns your Mac into a PC directly.

I have heard nothing but bad things about the DX9/3d accell performance on the new parallels, and my personal experiences echo this. I could not get Half Life 2 to run at all, even though it is advertised on the parallels site as working. If you are any sort of a gamer, stick with bootcamp, as I don't see effective gaming on anything but bootcamp (or a PC) anywhere in the near future.
