right.
step 1. buy windows xp
step 2. buy macbook
step 3. install bootcamp
then i get the 'press enter to continue' screen.
it isnt recognising any keyboard presses, so im left without windows, which would be handy really, as its one of the reasons I got this mac.
my question: can MY xp product key be used on with my friend's xp disc? as the prob is apparently caused by the disk being old.
im NOT chucking another £100 to MS.

You should have no problems using a different XP disc with your key.

!?! Not so fast. The keys for retail/upgrade/OEM/volume license are all different and you will likely run into trouble if you try to mix and match. Use an OEM key for OEM media OK, but not for retail.

The root of your problem is most likely the lack of SP2 on your install CD which can be fixed by a method called slipstreaming. Google it.

however,
the disk contains SP2. says so on the box. any more thoughts?
