On start up lately, the top superdrive bay opens. I wasn't doing that out of the box. It may be called something else these days and they'd probably rather we didn't thrash around in there. Can we access it. What is it called these days? Tried Start Up or Boot Items w/no luck.

Thanks for your time.

Just as a test, try holding the shift key at boot to start in safe mode. That will stop all launch/startup items from running. If that fixes it, then you know you have a launch item causing this.

Those items can be in any of the following folders, as well as the "login items" under your user name in the Users & Groups section of System Preferences.

Code:
~/Library/LaunchAgents (~ is your users fodler)
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/Extensions/
