Need boot screen for what?

If you need boot screen for single user mode, then nothing can replace it.

If you only need to switch between Windows and macOS, then BootChamp can do the job.

And for your info. rEFInd still need boot screen to work properly on 4,1/5,1 at this moment. But you can use it in blind if you want to.

And what's the counterpart in Windows?

Windows doesn’t need a counterpart as long as you boot into windows from boot runner. When you exit windows, boot runner will return you to macOS automatically on reboot/restart as long as you don’t change it’s default behavior.

I’ve used it in the past with great success, but no longer have a need for this since the Apple BootCamp Control Panel (taken from iMac Pro 1,1) works fine for me. If I were doing a native boot to Linux however, I would install BootRunner again. It handles Linux and Windows EFI mode well.
