A little while ago I rebooted my MBP. On the gray boot screen my HD icon is displayed and I need to select it before the notebook will finish booting.
This has never been the case before so I must have done something to cause this.

Does anyone know how to remove this to change it back to where it simply boots to my home screen.

I looked over preferences/start up and my HD is selected and nothing has been changed there. Is there another place to look for changes?

Try resetting the PRAM, then reselecting your HD as the StartupDisk in System Preferences.

PRAM reset: hold down cmd-opt-P-R on startup until you hear a second chime, then release.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

Odd, I pulled my power source and rebooted using the battery power only and it seems to have gone away. I rebooted a few times and each time it booted properly.
So I'm not sure what caused it before.

You were pressing the Option key while it booted, or at least the system thought you did for whatever reason.
