Dear Friends,

i have non-working MacBook Pro and during the Internet Recovery it always giving error. Now i have downloaded several Yosemite.dmg files from different sources and prepared bootable usb drive and DVD drive using TransMac, but unfortunate did not get any success in installing Yosemite.

Now i have download untouched Yosemite InstallESD.dmg file. Now how to install or prepare a USB or DVD drive without a working MacBook.

Can anybody suggest me what i am doing wrong? and How to make my mac book running again. I have a window PC on the other hand. Please help, really stuck from almost a month now, no solution yet.

I will admit I have not tried making a installer with a PC and TransMac so I can not offer any advice. I have read on this forum of people having problems creating Mac installers via a PC.

Just a suggestion for an alternative solution would be to buy a Yosemite USB installer from eBay.

Yes You could try with an installation DVD original Mac OS bought from Amazon. And before installing call Apple on talk to them, so you proceed without trouble. I'm sure this will work.

Never tried creating DVD media since Mavericks or prior.. Not even sure if it's even possible with Yosemite to still make DVD media, since it need the boot files/installer files which i'm sure are not part of the dmg image. I could be wrong of course.

I remember when i did it manually on mac, u had to "show all files" when drag over some hidden system folders outside the dmg image itself, in addition.

This was no on a pre-release version, so i dunno.

You can try PowerISO on Windows. it burns dmg images, and see.
