I am about to reformat my Mac Pro SSD, and start from a complete fresh install of Catalina.

In my current setup I have the 1TB SSD partitioned into an 800GB partition for macOS, and a 200GB partition for BootCamp. To switch between the two OSes, I always use the Boot Manager - never the build-in macOS switching.

Also, I do have a WinClone copy of my Windows 10 installation, but WinClone does currently not work with Catalina. To get into

My question is; if I reformat the 800GB partition and install Catalina from scratch, will I still be able to boot into Windows 10 using the Boot Manager. Also, I access Windows 10 in two ways, via the Boot Manager, and via Parallels. Will Parallels still see the Windows installation if it not setup using Boot Manager in Catalina?

In theory, yes. The only problem would be if you want to delete the Windows partition in the future, as BootCamp assistant probably won’t recognise the existing partition.

I would recommend first install Mojave and setting up BootCamp including cloning your Windows.
Then upgrade the Mojave partition to Catalina. BootCamp will be fine.

With Beta 7 I found the VMware can also boot the BootCamp partition, but I found you need to apply this KB
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2151780
It requires temporarily disabling SIP while you set up VMware plus editing the VMD after the setup.

I've actually got the smaller issues resolved, bar an empty folder in Launchpad, and I'll just keep my existing Catalina going until it is time to do a complete refresh of macOS. Last week I got Winclone 8 installed, and that takes a clone of Bootcamped Windows in Catalina. After a complete refresh, I can go through the process of setting up a new Bootcamp, and then restore the image created by Winclone.
